PALM SPRINGS DIY WEDDING – MELISSA + KEVIN

Nov 15, 2015

Melissa and Kevin met through an alumni theater group from their high-school. Although the play never went into production, Melissa and Kevin found themselves entangled in one another. Fast forward a few years later, Kevin took Melissa to one of their favorite restaurants in downtown Vancouver, Canada. Surrounded by the cold Winter air and Christmas market fun. Kevin got down on one knee and asked Melissa to spend the rest of her life with him. How romantic right?

When planning their wedding they decided to use the Galvin Estate in Palm Springs. Melissa really wanted to create a DIY atmosphere so that everyone could have a good time. As if it was a big backyard party. That included a DIY selfie stick photo-booth, a foosball table, and for dinner a taco truck! It was the the most relaxing, fun, and entertaining wedding I have ever been a part of. Leading up to the wedding Melissa and Kevin packed up all of their DIY wedding items and made the drive from Vancouver to Palm Springs. Being able to stay on property at the Galvin Estate gave the bridal party plenty of time to put everything together.

Melissa was a bit nervous when the wedding day started out overcast. Everyone comes to Palm Springs to get out of the Winter blues and into the sunny California vibe. By the afternoon the sun shined through the clouds and made for a beautiful sunset. Melissa and Kevin felt so lucky that everyone most important to them made the trip down to Palm Springs to be a part of their love story. From heartfelt toast from the groom’s brother, to tear-jerker speeches from both parents. After the yummy DIY tacos and sharing laughter and tears during the toasts. It was time to “shut up and dance”! Getting everyone on the dance floor made for the perfect all encompassing laughter and love for both Melissa and Kevin. Towards the end of the night we didn’t want to stop the fun, so we had to take it inside due to city noise ordinance codes. To everyone’s surprise there was a candy bar filled with peanut M&M’s, twirlers, donuts, and all the sugar one can image!
